Arthur Sumner9 Whitney (Ephraim8, Daniel7, Daniel6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Ephraim8 and Mary (Haskell) Whitney, was born 16 May 1856, Ashburnham, MA,[1] and died 24 Oct 1907, Chico, CA. He was buried in Chico Cemetery, Chico, CA.[2]

He married, 17 Apr 1877, Harvard, MA, Alice A. McIntyre, daughter of James E. and Anna D. (-----) McIntyre.[3] She was born about 1857, Somerville, MA.

Children of Arthur Sumner9 and Alice A. (McIntyre) Whitney:

i. Edward A.10 Whitney, b. 29 Jan 1878, Boxborough, MA;[4] d. 6 Jul 1880, Ayer, MA, aged 2 years 3 months 16 days, of acute hydrocephalus.[5]
ii. Ellen G. Whitney, b. ca. 1879, Still River, MA; m. 26 Aug 1896, Falmouth, MA, Oliver S. Fish, b. ca. 1875, Falmouth, MA, son of Cornelius B. and Lucy C. (Pratt) Fish.[6]
iii. Alice Augusta Whitney, b. 27 Dec 1880, Ayer, MA;[7] m. 29 Aug 1900, Attleborough, MA, Thomas F. Williams, b. ca. 1878, Attleborough, MA, son of Douglass and Abby (Kennedy) Williams.[8]
