Family:Whitney, Jonas (1805-1869)

Jonas⁷ Whitney (Benjamin⁶, Jonas⁵, David⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Benjamin⁶ and Nancy (Fuller) Whitney, was born 4 Jul 1805, Marlborough, NH,^[1] and died 21 Mar 1869, Hematite, MO.

He married, Dec 1835, Charlotte Forman, of Ithaca, NY. She was born 12 Dec 1815 Ithaca, NY, and died 16 Oct 1900, St. Louis, MO.

He was graduated at Dartmouth College in 1833, after which he spent some time in various places in New York state, then settled in Missouri. He resided Hematite, MO.

iii.	Emiline Charlotte Whitney, b. 17 Jan 1847, Shawnee Town, Gallatin Co., IL; d. 26 Apr 1918, St. Louis Co., MO; m. 25 Dec 1871, Vincent Tapp Crosby; resided Saint Louis, MO.
iv.	Ida Isabel Whitney, b. Nov 1853, St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO.
v.	Harriet Ann Whitney, b. 12 Apr 1857, St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO; d. 26 May 1934, St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO; unm; resided 2813 Arsenal St., Saint Louis, MO, with her mother.

Notes

The last three children are given by Pierce, and not confirmed independently. It does seem very likely that there were more than just the first six children listed above, based on gaps in their birth dates. One daughter born 1835-1840 is confirmed by the 1840 census. Probably all such additional children died young.
