Henry Martyn7 Whitney (Samuel Starfield6, Thomas5, James4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Samuel Starfield6 and Lois (Stewart) Whitney, was born 7 Feb 1822, Darien, CT, and died after Jun 1877.
He married, 26 Feb 1851, Poundridge, NY, Eliza Jane Hobby, daughter of Philander and Betsey Ann (Weed) Hobby. She was born 17 Jun 1832, Stamford, CT, and died after Jun 1877.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a shoemaker . . . . They settled at Stamford, and were living there in June 1877. He has lived, for two years, in New York, and sometimes in New Canaan, Conn. He served in the war of 1861, having enlisted 18 Aug. 1862; and was discharged 28 Aug. 1863."

(Lounsbury) Buxton. They were living at Stamford, CT, in Jun 1877. iii. Albert Franklin Whitney, b. 27 Feb 1859; Lettie -----. iv. Preston Eugene Whitney, b. 4 Jun 1865; m. Mamie/May Dunne.
