Ephraim5 Whitney (Moses4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Moses4 and Lydia (Taylor) Whitney, was born 1 Mar 1723/4, Littleton, MA,[1] and died 9 Nov 1796, Chesterfield, NH.[2]

Ephraim married, 16 Jan 1745/6, Lunenburg, MA, Jane Bancroft, daughter of John and Mary (Clark) Bancroft. She was born 8 Jul 1722, Lynn, MA.

He was also known as Lt. Ephraim Whitney. He signed a petition on 31 Dec 1746, Lunenburg, MA. He lived 1776, Chesterfield, NH.

Pierce says the following:[3]

They were dismissed to the church in Chesterfield, N. H., in 1781.

Children of Ephraim5 and Jane (Bancroft) Whitney, all born Lunenburg, MA:

i. Moses6 Whitney, b. 11 Jan 1747; d. 1824, Raymond, ME; "of Petersham" m. 16 Aug 1766, Petersham, MA, or 20 Nov 1766, Lunenburg, MA, Sarah Geary "of Luninburgh". He lived in 1776 at Raymond, ME. "Moses WHITNEY was the first of the name in Rindge, and for some time prior to the Revolutionary war was a merchant. He moved from New Salem in Jan. 1772. His wife's name was Sarah -----, and his children were Moses, Ephraim, and Salmon."[4]
ii. Ephraim Whitney, b. 12 Aug 1749; m. (int. 4 Jul 1772, Petersham, MA) Rhoda Winslow. He lived in 1776 at Chesterfield, NH.
iii. Molley Whitney, b. 25 Sep 1755; d. circa 1855, Dover, VT; m. circa 1778, James Cutler.

iv. Joel Whitney, b. before 1755, living in Chesterfield, NH, in 1776 and 1790.
