Jonathan4 Whitney (Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jonathan3 and Susannah (Fairbanks) Whitney, was born 7 Oct 1704, Sherborn, MA,[1] and died 28 Jan 1755, Milford, MA, in his 51st year.[2].
He married, 26 Jan 1726/7, Mendon, MA, Lydia Jones, daughter of Elder John and Sarah (Lobdell) Jones. She was born 17 Sep 1705, Mendon, MA, and died 4 May 1783, Milford, MA, aged 77 years.
He lived at Hopkinton, Holliston, Mendon, Medway, and Milford, MA.
He was a Captain in the French and Indian War, 1748.
Administration on his estate was granted to Isaac Whitney.
Pierce says the following:[3]
- He owned lands in Hopkinton, Holliston, and Mendon. He was a prominent citizen and influential member of the church, and assisted in establishing the town of Milford. He settled the estates of his father and father-in-law. After his death his estate was divided among his heirs, he dying intestate.

Ruth Whitney, baptized 11 Apr 1742, Milford, MA; d. before 1755. viii. David Whitney, b. 21 Sep 1746, Milford, MA; m.(1) Keziah Marshall; m.(2) Rachel Rawson.
