James5 Whitney ([prob.] James4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), probably that James, son of James4 and Mercy (Flagg) Whitney, who was born 26 Oct 1743, Waltham, MA. He died 18 Aug 1799, Ludlow, VT.

He married, 14 Jun 1763, Brookline, MA, Mary Thayer,[1] daughter of Daniel and Ruth (Clark) Thayer. She was born 27 Feb 1743, Braintree, MA, and died unknown.

He served from Marlborough, MA, as a corporal in the Revolutionary War.

He resided in Winchester, NH, and Ludlow, VT.
