Ephraim⁵ Whitney (Moses⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Moses⁴ and Lydia (Taylor) Whitney, was born 1 Mar 1723/4, Littleton, MA,^[1] and (as "Lieut.") died 2 Oct 1796, Chesterfield, NH, aged 72 years.^[2]

Marriage intentions were published 27 Dec 1745, Lunenburg, MA, for him and Jane Bancroft.^[3] He married, 16 Jan 1745/6, Lunenburg, MA, Jane Bancroft,^[4] daughter of John and Mary (Clark) Bancroft. She was born 8 Jul 1722, Lynn, MA.

He was also known as Lt. Ephraim Whitney. He signed a petition on 31 Dec 1746, Lunenburg, MA. He lived 1776, Chesterfield, NH.

Mr. Ephraim Whitney was chosen to take care of deer, 7 Mar 1747/8; surveyor of highways, 6 Mar 1748/9; to take care of deer, 4 Mar 1750/1; hog reeve, 2 Mar 1752 [1751/2]; tydingman, 3 Mar 1755; deer reeve, 3 Mar 1755; tydingman, 1 Mar 1756; constable, 6 Mar 1757; and surveyor of highways, 1 Mar 1762.^[5]

Pierce says the following:^[6]

They were dismissed to the church in Chesterfield, N. H., in 1781.
