My Greatgrandfather was Daniel Alpheus Whitney born July 13, 1849 in Middlesex Co, MA. It appears that he is the only one of the 7 children of Artemas and Lucy Pease Whitney to leave MA. Iowa 1880 census records show DA Whitney living with his wife, Minnie age 20, his 6mo old son, Ralph, and a boarder, Alice Tabor, who was identified as a teacher. My Grandfather was Everett Pease Whitney. My Father is Donald Carl Whitney. I am interested in when and why DA Whitney came to Iowa.
