Eli7 Whitney (Jacob6, Richard5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Jacob6 and Lois (Hapgood) Whitney, was born 17 May 1783, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 12 Mar 1866, Wayland, MA, shoemaker, widower, aged 83 years 10 months, of old age.

He married 6 Mar 1808, Lexington, MA, Sally Locke, both "of Lexington",[2] daughter of Jonas and Sarah (Russell) Locke. She was baptized 9 Apr 1786, Lexington, MA, and died 29 Sep 1848, Lexington, MA, aged 62 years,[3] of apoplexy.

i. Eli Martin8 Whitney, b. ca. 1809; m.(1) ----- -----; m.(2) Catherine (Richards) -----.
ii. (son) Whitney, b. ca. 1811; d. Jan 1833, Lexington, MA, aged 21 years.[4]
ii. Sarah A. Whitney, b. ca. 1814, MA; m. 26 Oct 1834, Lexington, MA, Henry Phelps.[5]
iii. (child) Whitney, b. ca. 1817; d. 2 May 1821, Lexington, MA, aged 4 years.[6]
iv. Edmund W. Whitney, b. ca. Jan 1820, Lexington, MA; d. 23 Jul 1866, South Reading, MA, aged 46 years 6 months, of rheumatism and dropsy of the heart; shoemaker; unmarried.
