He was in his earlier days, a stage driver in the northern part of Connecticut. He was employed by the Adams Express Company when they first opened an office in New Haven. Just previous to his death he was in the employ of English & Merrick, an old carriage hardware house, where he was for thirty-seven years. He was well known and much thought of. He died 1 Feb 1892; resided New Haven, Connecticut.
