Arthur Barton9 Whitney (Baxter8, Chester7, Aaron6, Nathan5, Nathan4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Baxter8 and Mary A. (Kneeland) Whitney; born Waterbury, Vermont, 30 Aug 1846; married 16 Sep 1868, Emma J. Patch, born 10 Mar 1846; died 14 Mar 1879; married 2d, 11 Sep 1881, Carrie M. Tyler, born 16 May 1858.
Until he was twenty years of age he lived with his parents on a farm in the state of Vermont. In 1866 his parents moved to Milford, Kansas, where he learned the miller's trade. In 1881 he moved with his family to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and spent the succeeding four years there and in that vicinity. He then returned to Kansas and the miller's occupation. In 1890 he moved west again, and for want of any place further west to go to, stopped in western Washington, where he now is and henceforth will be; resided Cosmopolis, Washington.
Children of Arthur Barton9 and Emma J. (Patch) Whitney:
i. Frank Arthur10 Whitney, born 18 Oct 1869; with Gilfillan Scale & Hardware County, 725 Old Colony bldg., Dearborn and Van Buren Sts. Chicago, Illinois.
Additional information: Arthur Barton Whitney died in 1920 and was buried with his first wife, Emma, in Milford, Kansas. Arthur's second wife, Carrie died in 1937. Arthur and Carrie had one child, Allen Birney Whitney (1901-1978) born in Bellingham, Washington. Arthur's first son, Frank, returned to live with him in Washington but in 1904 followed the Klondike Gold Rush to the Yukon where he lived for 44 years. He married Theos Juliet Rosman of Plattsburgh, New York. Frank died in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1948 where he is buried. A mountain was named after Frank in the Yukon (Mount Whitney, Ogilvie Range).
