Thomas Whitney, son of John Whitney, born about 1809, Llanover, Monmouthshire, Wales. He was perhaps the son of Sarah Whitney, b. ca. 1776 who was enumerated with the family in 1841.

He married Hannah -----. She was born circa 1818, Llanover, Monmouthshire, Wales.

The family resided in Llanfoist, Monmouthshire, Wales in 1841 where Thomas worked as a collier (coal worker).

The family resided in Trevethin, Monmouthshire, Wales in 1851 where Thomas worked as a coal miner.
