Family:Whitney, Aaron (1746-1790)

Aaron⁶ Whitney (Aaron⁵, Moses⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Aaron⁵ and Alice (Baker) Whitney, was born 5 Sep 1746 Petersham, MA, or Littleton, MA,^[1] and died Apr 1790, Northfield, MA.

He married firstly, 1772, Hannah Stearns. She was born 14 Nov 1748, and died 1 Feb 1784.

He married secondly, Sep 1784, Hannah Willard. She was born 14 Oct 1754, and died 28 Sep 1812. She married secondly, Asahel Pomeroy of Northampton, MA.

He was the fourth son of Rev. Aaron Whitney, of Petersham, MA. His first wife was daughter of Rev. David Stearns, of Lunenburg, MA. After his death his widow married 16 Mar 1794, Asahel Pomeroy, of Northampton, MA, by whom she had one child, Hannah, born 31 Jan 1795, who married Robert Edwards. Aaron was a merchant in Northfield, MA. He resided Northfield, MA.

iii.	Hannah Stearns Whitney, b. 27 Mar 1777, Northfield, MA;[5] m. 3 Nov 1798, Oliver Sparhawk, Esq., of Walpole. He was b. 16 Jul 1771, Walpole; d. 6 Jul 1824; gr. Dartmouth College, 1793, a lawyer and for many years clerk of the court. He m.(1) his cousin, Hannah Stearns Whitney, who d. 25 Aug 1818; m.(2) his cousin, 5 Sep 1819, Naomi Sparhawk. Ch.: Marietta, b. 12 Aug 1801; d. unmarried 4 Dec 1840; Thomas O., b. 16 --- 1803; a druggist; resided Greenfield; Julianna, b. 4 Sep 1804; m. Notes

Children vii and viii above may be identical. The birth of the second Susanna is not in Northfield vital records, nor have I found a reliable record of the death of the first. The two Susannas are left this way because Temple and Sheldon's A History of the Town of Northfield, Massachusetts give them thus.
