Family:Whitney, Bartholomew (1826-1893)

Hon. Bartholomew⁹ Whitney (Bartholomew⁸, Oliver⁷, Silas⁶, David⁵, Benjamin⁴, Thomas³, Thomas², John¹), born Franklin, Vermont, 8 Mar 1826; married there 3 Nov 1847 Sarah Towle Pearson, born 10 Nov 1826.

He was born in Franklin, Vermont, where he always resided. Having obtained a common school education he entered Bakersfield academy where he was graduated. He early joined the M. E. church in which he was a steward for over thirty years. He was entrusted with all the town offices and in 1880 was unanimously elected a member of the Vermont legislature at Montpelier. He died 16 Oct 1893; resided W. Berkshire, Vermont.

iv.	Herbert E. Whitney, born 8 Jul 1854; married Ida M. Stowe.
v.	Stephen Bart Whitney, born 25 Nov 1860; married Addie Parmelia Chaffee.
vi.	Marion Gertrude Whitney, born 2 Jun 1866; married Mar 28, 1889, Edward H. Chamberlin; resided East Franklin. Ch.: Ina V., born Nov. 2 1892.
