Family:Whitney, Aaron (c1795-1842)

Aaron Whitney (Joseph), son of Joseph and Elizabeth (-----) Whitney, was born between 1790 and 1800, and died 1842.

He married Rachel Poindexter.[1]

Children of Aaron and Rachel (Poindexter) Whitney:

i. Elizabeth Whitney. She m. John Reed of Dade Co., MO according to 1842 probate records of her father.
ii. Thomas J. Whitney, b. ca. 1819, TN. According to his father's probate records, he resided Bates Co., MO. Enumerated in Holt Co., MO in 1850. The family believes that Thomas joined his brother Wade in Nebraska but died there before 1860.
iii. James M. Whitney, b. ca. 1822, MO.
iv. Wade H. Whitney, b. ca. 1827, MO.
v. Rachel Ann Whitney, b. ca. 1829, MO. She m. (1) James M. Hudson by whom she had two children William born about 1847 and Elizabeth born 1849. She married (2) Joshua Kelso and is with him on the 1860 census for Holt Co MO. This indicates Rachel was born 1829 in Missouri which fits the profile for when the family came to Missouri. 1860, Holt Co MO, Household 1044: Joshua Kelso, age 29, b. Iowa Rachel, age 31, b. MO William A. Hudson age 13, Elizabeth Hudson age 11, Sarah A. Kelso age 5, John A. Kelso age 3, Harriet L. Kelso age 1 and James P. Kelso age one month.
