Abel7 Whitney (Peter6, Aaron5, Moses4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Peter6 and Julia (Lambert) Whitney; born Northborough, Massachusetts, 3 Nov 1781; married in Brookline, Massachusetts, 21 Dec 1809, Susanna White, of Brookline; born 7 Jul 1786; died 14 Dec 1867.
He was a cabinet maker by trade, which he followed in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Was highly honored and respected. Was chairman of the selectmen in 1838 and 1839. Was deacon of the First Church, Unitarian, of Cambridge from 18 until his death in 1853. He died 22 Feb 1853; resided Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Children of Abel7 and Susanna (White) Whitney:
i. William L.8 Whitney, born 11 Mar 1811; married Lucy Ann Jones and Rebecca Richardson Brackett ii. Augustus A. Whitney, born 4 Dec 1812; married and died s.p. 29 Jul 1891. He was deacon of the First Church in Cambridge from 1853 to his death. iii. Benjamin W. Whitney, born 9 Aug 1815; married and died 19 Dec 1879. He was a lawyer and graduated from Harvard College, 1838. iv. Susan E. Whitney, born 20 Feb 1817; married Jan. 31 1856, James Brackett; resided s.p. Cambridge, Massachusetts. v. Abigail W. Whitney, born 10 Apr 1827; married Moses G. Howe; resided Cambridge, Massachusetts, s.p.
