Mary Baldwin9 Whitney (John8, John7, Silas6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), daughter of John8 and Mary Baldwin (Holt) Whitney, was born 14 Nov 1833, Cambridge, MA, and died 29 Jul 1899, Lancaster, MA, aged 65 years 8 months 15 days, of cerebral apoplexy.[1][2]

She married firstly, 15 Jun 1859, Boston, MA, George Lee Thurston, son of John Gates and Harriet (Lee) Thurston.[3] He was born 12 or 16 Jan 1831, Lancaster, MA, and died 15 Dec 1862.[4]

She married secondly, 12 Sep 1870, Lancaster, MA, Henry Stedman Nourse "of Harrisburg", son of Stedman and Patty (Howard) Nourse.[5] He was born 9 Apr 1831, Lancaster, MA, and died 14 Nov 1903, Lancaster, MA, aged 72 years 7 months 5 days, of angina pectoris.[6][7]

All three are buried in Middle Cemetery, Lancaster, MA.

George L. Thurston served as and Adjutant and Captain, Cos. F and S, 55th Regiment, Illinois Infantry.

Henry S. Nourse was an educator and civil engineer; . . . graduate Harvard college, 1853; A. M.; professor of ancient languages at Phillips Exeter academy; adjutant 55th Illinois infantry, 1862; captain, 1863; asst. commissary of musters 17th Army Corps, 1864-65; engineer of construction and superintendent Pennsylvania Steel Works, 1867 to 1874; member house of representatives, Massachusetts, 1883; senate, 1885-6; member American Antiquarian society and Massachusetts Historical society, Military Historical society, Loyal Legion, etc., etc.; author "Early Records of Lancaster," "Military Annals of Lancaster," "The Story of the 55th Illinois Volunteer Infantry," "The Birth, Marriage and Death Register of Lancaster," "The History of Harvard, Massachusetts," etc., etc.; member Massachusetts Free Public Library commission; a trustee of the Worcester Lunatic Hospital.

i. William Lee Thurston, b. 3 May 1860, Lancaster, MA;[8] in 1894, traveling in Europe; d. 15 Apr 1939; bur. Middle Cemetery, Lancaster, MA;[9] unmarried.
ii. Alice Clary Thurston, b. 12 Aug 1862; d. 4 Jan 1864, aged 17 months; bur. Middle Cemetery, Lancaster, MA.[10] Also recorded d. 2 Jan 1864, Lancaster, MA, aged 1 year 4 months 23 days, of scrofula.[11]
