Josiah⁷ Whitney (Moses Gill⁶, Josiah⁵, Richard⁴, Richard³, Richard², John¹), son of Moses Gill⁶ and Ann (Shields) Whitney, was born 12 Mar 1815, Whitingham, VT,^[1] and died 11 Mar 1877, Bennington, VT, aged 62 years, of dropsy.

He married, 8 Oct 1837, Greenfield, MA, Sarah Moody Dickinson,^[2] daughter of Lucius and Rebecca (Wait) Dickinson. She was born 20 Jun 1820, Greenfield, MA, and died 4 Jun 1901, Greenfield, MA, aged 80 years 11 months 15 days, of senile heart.^[3]
