Daniel6 Whitney (Josiah5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Josiah5 and Sarah (Dwelly) Whitney, was born 25 Oct 1786, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 18 Apr 1869, New York, NY.

He married, 10 Mar 1808, Boston, MA, Hannah Shedd,[2] of Waltham, MA.

Daniel Whitney was born in Massachusetts. He was a master mason builder, and moved with his family from Boston, MA, in 1825, on a sloop with all his worldly goods and family consisting of ten children. It took a week to make the trip. He resided in New York City, and died at the age of 82. He made all the arrangements for his funeral one year before he died - chose eight pall bearers from among his most intimate friends of long standing. He had a presentiment one year before he died that he would die that year. There are many elegant residences standing now that he erected. He was very active after the great fire of 1835. He resided Waltham and Boston, MA, and New York City, NY.
