Family:Whitney, Augustus Anson (1812-1891)
Augustus Anson8 Whitney (Abel7, Peter6, Aaron5, Moses4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Abel7 and Susanna (White) Whitney, was born 4 Dec 1812,[1] Cambridge, MA, and died 29 Jul 1891, Cambridge, MA, aged 78 years 7 months, of senility and cerebral exhaustion.[2]
He married firstly, 27 Dec 1870, Medford or Cambridge, MA, Susan B. (King) Manning, daughter of John and Susan (Morey) King.[3] She was born about 1 Oct 1816, Boston, MA,[4] and died 6 Mar 1885, Cambridge, MA, aged 68 years 5 months 5 days, of disease of heart.[5] She had married firstly, 13 Mar 1839, Medford, MA, Joseph Manning, Jr. (1812-1861), son of Joseph and Hepzibah (Tufts) Manning.
He married secondly, 26 Oct 1887, Somerville, MA [also recorded at Cambridge, MA], Evelyn Augusta Sawyer, daughter of Samuel and Lucy (Tufts) Sawyer.[6] She was born 11 May 1844,[7] Fairhaven, MA, and died 19 Sep 1898, Cambridge, MA, aged 54 years 4 months 8 days, of carcinoma of heart and chest.[8]
He was deacon of the First Church in Cambridge from 1853 to his death.
Augustus Anson8 Whitney had no children by either wife.
