He was buried in West Wardsboro, VT.
He married, about 1951, Mirth Arlene Pike. She died before 2008.

- Charles Whitney 1918 - 2008 Charles Candee Whitney, born June 9, 1918, Blandford, Mass; died Sept. 14, in Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away after a short illness at Westbrook Manor, an assisted living facility in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mirth Arlene Pike Whitney, his parents, Charles E. and Mabel Candee Whitney; a brother Francis Whitney and a sister; Luna Howe. He leaves two sons; Charles C. Whitney, Jr., and Alberta, of Wilmington, Del., and Howard R. Whitney, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a sister Edna Dean Calvin; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Whitney graduated from The Leland & Gray Seminary in Townsend, Vt., and served as a Mineman, Third Class, in the Navy in World War II. Throughout his career he was a machinist at the Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield, Vt. FUNERAL NOTICE: On Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, there will be a viewing for immediate family at COVEY & ALLEN FUNERAL HOME in Wilmington, Vermont. This will be followed by a graveside reading at the cemetery in West Wardsboro, Vermont.
