Family:Whitney, Edward Herbert (1841-b1900)
Edward Herbert9 Whitney (George8, Peter7, Peter6, Aaron5, Moses4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of George8 and Anne Greenough (Gray) Whitney, was born 14 Sep 1841, Quincy, MA, and baptized 25 Nov 1841, Roxbury, MA.[1] He died 3 May 1899, Wellesley, MA, aged 57 years 7 months 19 days, of pneumonia.[2]
He married firstly, 8 or 12 May 1870, Boston, MA, Annie M. Fairbanks, daughter of Josiah L. and Caroline (Ware) Fairbanks.[3] She was born 22 Aug 1849,[4] and died 7 Mar 1878, Needham, MA, aged 28 years 6 months 13 days, of puerperal fever.[5]
He married secondly, 26 or 16 Jul 1881, Wellesley, MA, Jennie P. Robinson, dau. of Joshua D. and E. J. (-----) Robinson.[6] She was born TX.
He was born in Quincy, MA, and when fifteen years of age went to Cuba, where he resided for twenty years; of the firm of George H. Gray & Danforth, of Boston. In 1875 his father-in-law, J. L. Fairbanks, importer of stationery and account book manufacturer, died, and since then he has carried on the business; resided Newton Lower Falls, MA; P. O. Box 1473, Boston, MA.
