Eli7 Whitney (Jacob6, Richard5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Jacob6 and Lois (Hapgood) Whitney, was born 17 May 1783, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 12 Mar 1866, Wayland, MA, shoemaker, widower, aged 83 years 10 months, of old age.[2]

He married 6 Mar 1808, Lexington, MA, Sally Locke, both "of Lexington",[3] daughter of Jonas and Sarah (Russell) Locke. She was baptized 9 Apr 1786, Lexington, MA, and died 29 Sep 1848, Lexington, MA, aged 62 years,[4] of apoplexy.

iv. (child) Whitney, b. ca. 1817; d. 2 May 1821, Lexington, MA, aged 4 years.[11]
v. Edmund W. Whitney, b. ca. Jan 1820, Lexington, MA; d. 23 Jul 1866, South Reading, MA, aged 46 years 6 months, of rheumatism and dropsy of the heart; shoemaker; unmarried.[12]
vi. Mary L. Whitney, b. ca. 11 Sep 1823, Lexington, MA; d. 15 Jun 1857, Boston, MA, aged 33 years 9 months 4 days, of dropsy;[13] m. 13 Apr 1852, Boston, MA, Conrad Schaffer, b. ca. 1832, Germany, son of John H. Schaffer.[14]
vii. Caira R. Whitney, b. ca. 1826, Lexington, MA; of Boston, m. 14 Oct 1849, Roxbury, MA, Calvin Barrows, of Lexington, b. 23 Mar 1820, Lebanon, NH, son of Samuel Storrs and Belinda Lake (Lull) Barrows.[15]
viii. Simri Whitney, b. ca. 1829, Lexington, MA; d. February 2, 1900, Chelsea, MA, aged 70 years, 8 months, 5 days of heart disease; teamster; unmarried.[16] He was a Civil War Veteran, Co. G, 11th Mass. Inf., buried in Forestdale Cemetery, Malden, MA.[17]
