Ezra⁸ Whitney (Zerah⁷, James⁶, Samuel⁵, Samuel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Zerah⁷ and Jane (Demond) Whitney, was born 29 Jul 1815, Scipio, NY, and 10 May 1899, Kalamazoo, MI.^[1]

He married, 12 Mar 1842, Sherman, MI, Hannah Hedges DePuy, daughter of Moses M. and Elizabeth (Hedges) Depuy. She was born 21 Apr 1821, Geneseo, NY, and died died 9 Aug 1912, Plainwell, MI.^[2]

He resided Bradley, MI.

Phoenix says the following:

"Ezra Whitney, b. at Scipio, N. Y., 29 July 1815; a farmer; married 12 March 1842, at Sherman, Mich., where her father then lived, Hannah Hedges Depuy, who was born in Geneseo, N. Y., 21 Ap. 1821, dau. of Moses M. and Elizabeth (Hedges) Depuy. They settled in Cascade, Mich.; and in May 1855, removed to Bradley, Mich., where they were living in 1874. He was a soldier in the war of 1861; and has been postmaster."
