Harry Staples10 Whitney (Charles Edward9, Samuel8, Joseph7, Daniel6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Charles Edward9 and Jennie (Bliss) Whitney, was born 20 Apr 1891, Conway, MA, and died 6 Dec 1979, Peterborough, NH.

He married, 22 Apr 1911, Jaffrey, NH, Maude Elizabeth Pratt, daughter of Ansel Pearly and Annie A. (Barrows) Pratt. She was born 14 Jan 1895, Pelham, MA, and died 7 Jul 1976, Peterborough, NH.

Harry Staples Whitney was born in Conway, MA, on 20 Apr 1891 to Charles Edward and Jennie May (Bliss) Whitney. About 1892 the family moved to Westport, NH, and from there, as indicated by tax records, to Winchester, NH, in about 1901. Soon they moved to Rindge, NH. Harry and Hattie, his sister, are in the town records as going to school in Rindge Center and lived across from Grassy Pond on Cathedral Road. They then moved to the Old Bradford House on Mountain Road across from the old Methodist parsonage. In 1911 he married Maude Eliazbeth Pratt, the daughter of Ansel Pearly and Annie A. (Barrows) Pratt, in the Baptist Church in Jaffrey, NH. Their first home was on Cathedral Road in Rindge, NH, where Harry Jr. was born. Soon after they moved to a house next to the Methodist church in West Rindge where two stillborn children and Carl were born. They next moved near the railroad tracks on Rt. 202 near the Old Forge Restaurant in a house Harry built. Sometime around 1927 they moved to Brattleboro, VT, where their daughter Frances died of pneumonia and then moved to Keene, NH, where David was born. About 1930 Harry bought a tract of land from Cyrus Bunker on Rt. 202 in Rindge near the Rindge/Jaffrey border. Here he built the house where he and Maude lived the rest of their lives. Their last child, Eleanor, was born amd died in this house and it is now owned by her daughter, Frances Gregory. Richard, David, and Russell also built houses on this tract forming a small community which, for a time, was known as Whitneyville and even had it's own Zip Code.

Harry was a self-employed carpenter, electrician and plumber as well as a craftsman who made hand made furniture. He and his sons built houses, such as the Silver Ranch Stands. He helped build the Bell Tower at the Cathedral Of The Pines and the Rindge Memorial School and made renovations to the Rindge Library and the Methodist Church. After he retired he continued to refinish antique furniture and to build new furniture, some of which is in local homes.

Maude died in the Peterborough Hospital, Peterborough, NH, on 7 Jul 1976 of a cerebrovascular accident due to arteriosclerosis. Harry died in the same hospital on 6 Dec 1979 of heart failure due to severe arteriosclerosis.
