Family:Whitney, Horace Clement (1806-a1885)

Horace Clement⁷ Whitney (Ira⁶, Hezekiah⁵, Hezekiah⁴, Joseph³, John², Henry¹), son of Ira⁶ and Judith (Flood) Whitney, was born 8 Apr 1806, Hyde Park, VT, and died after 1885.

He married firstly, 30 Mar 1836, Dunstable, NH, Persis Reynolds/Runnels,^[1][2] daughter of Samuel and Abigail (Smith) Runnells. She was born 19 or 29 Aug 1798, Hollis, NH, and died 2 Jul 1842, Hollis, NH. She was buried in Church Yard Cemetery, Hollis, NH.

He married secondly, Louisa Story, of St. Alban's, VT, daughter of Asel and Chloe (Dickenson) Story. She was born 19 Mar 1814, Fairfield, VT, and died Jan 1895.

He married thirdly, 22 or 23 Mar 1850, Franklin, VT, Philura (Austin) Rice, of Franklin, VT [marriage record gives "Rouce" and "Rouse"],^[3] daughter of Timothy and Abigail (Crandall) Austin. She was born about 1809, Westford, VT, and died after 1895. Who her Rice husband had been is unknown, but they had a son Clark Rice, b. ca. 1834, VT.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . a farmer; married Persis Reynolds, of Hollis, N.H., who committed suicide, by poison, at the house of her brother, in Hollis. He married (2nd), Louisa Story, of St. Alban's, Vt.; and settled in Sheldon, Vt., where she left him. He married (3rd), 22 March 1850, at Franklin, Vt., Philura Austin, born at Westford, Vt., dau. of Timothy and Abigail (Crandall) Austin, of Highgate, Vt. They lived at Farnam, Canada East, in 1851, and at Neenah, Wisconsin, in 1874."
