He married firstly, about 1893, Malvina -----. She was born Feb 1870, NY, and died after 1900. She may be the same person as the second wife below.
He married secondly, 24 May 1918, Malone, NY, Malvina (Guerin) DeFields,[2] daughter of Francis and Mary (La Valley) Guerin. She was born about 1872, and died after 1940. She had married firstly, before 1889, Alex DeFields.
He resided Malone, NY.
He was only five years of age when he lost his best friend in the death of his mother. Kind friends have done what they could to repair the loss he thus sustained, and he has become a strong, able-bodied man, of good habits and sound principles. While not disliking agricultural pursuits, he had a strong desire for mechanical engineering, and left the farm for a time to become a locomotive engineer on the O. & L. C. division of the Central Vermont railroad; has since left the railroad and returned to farming. "May he never have cause to regret it."
