Family:Whitney, James Dwight (1821-a1880)

James Dwight⁸ Whitney (Robert⁷, Abel⁶, Aaron⁵, Moses⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Robert⁷ and Margaret Ashley (Dwight) Whitney, was born 19 Aug 1821, Westfield, MA,^[1] and was baptized 28 Oct 1821, Westfield, MA,^[2] and died after 1880.

He married, 6 Jan 1846, Sophia Abigail Steele. She was born 23 Nov 1824, NY, and died after 1880.

He was cashier of a bank at Norwalk, OH, 1844-49; engaged in forwarding and wholesale trade at Sandusky, 1850-70, and from 1865-71 he was national bank examiner for Ohio and West Virginia; resided at Oberlin, OH, and is examiner for the insurance department of Ohio.

iii.	George Dwight Whitney, b. 10 Oct 1850, Norwalk, OH; poss. m. 12 Oct 1879, Johnson Co., KS, Ella E. Montford.
iv.	Elizabeth Whitney, b. 17 Oct 1853, Sandusky, OH; m. Frank M. Hosier
