Joseph Lorenzo⁸ Whitney (Paul⁷, Hezekiah⁶, Timothy⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Paul⁷ and Rebecca Desire (Freeman) Whitney, was born 16 Jun 1819, Salisbury, CT, and died after 1900.

He was married, 12 Sep 1849, Cornwall, CT, Elizabeth Moulton Swift.^[1] She was born 30 Nov 1826, and died 29 Dec 1868.

He was a mariner until he was thirty years of age; resided Cornwall, CT.
