Newton James8 Whitney (David7, Isaac6, David5, Thomas4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of David7 and Charlotte (Blanchard) Whitney, was born 14 Mar 1816, New Ipswich, NH, and died 17 Feb 1895, Walpole, NH.

He married firstly, Mary C. Billings.

He "of Fitchburg" "widr." married secondly, (int. 25 Oct 1845, Fitchburg, MA[1]), 13 Nov 1845, Winchendon, MA, Sarah Divoll "of Winchendon",[2] daughter of Levi and Sarah or Lucy (-----) Divoll. She was born about 1822, Winchendon, MA, and died 14 Aug 1851, Winchendon, MA, aged 29 years 5 months 10 days, of consumption.[3]

He married thirdly, 1 Feb 1855, Hancock, NH, Mary Julia Redding,[4] daughter of Jonathan and Irene (Streeter) Redding. She was born 23 Jun 1832, Alstead, NH, and died 18 Apr 1915, Walpole, NH.

He resided Walpole, NH.
