Richard5 Whitney (Richard5, Richard4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Richard5 and Ruth (Wilson) Whitney, was born 16 Jul 1795, Paris, NY, and died after May 1874.
He married, 6 May 1819, Westmoreland, NY, Adeline Jones, daughter of Nehemiah and Anna (Pomeroy) Jones, of Westmoreland. She was born 25 Apr 1800, Westmoreland, NY, and died after 1892.
Phoenix says the following:
- . . . a farmer; . . . . They moved in Feb 1821, with his father, to Magnolia, in Chautauqua, NY, and were still living there in May 1874. He often held town-offices, was postmaster at Magnolia for twenty years, and a justice of the peace.

Elizabeth Ann Whitney, b. 11 Dec 1834, Magnolia, NY; m. 10 Nov 1861, Magnolia, NY, Stephen Emeigh Taylor, a farmer, son of John F. and Sally Ann (Losee) Taylor, of Half Moon, NY, where he was b. 30 Oct 1834. They settled in Harmony, NY, and dwelt there in 1880. viii.
