Charles Leonard⁹ Whitney (Cyrus P.⁸, Peter⁷, Israel⁶, Jonas⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Cyrus P.⁸ and Cynthia L. (Davenport) Whitney, was born 5 May 1868, and died 1940.

He married, 14 Feb 1893, Mattie E. Irish. She was born 1869, and died 1953.

He resided Malone, NY.

i.	Gifford Irish10 Whitney, b. 24 Mar 1894, d. 20 Sep 1897 (but alive in 1900 census, and b. Mar 1897).
ii.	Harold Charles Whitney, b. 24 Dec 1896, d. 24 Feb 1919. Harold died in WWI as a Private (First Class), and is buried at: Plot D Row 20 Grave 21, Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Fere-en-Tardenois, France. He was part of the 102nd Engineer Regiment, 27th Infantry Division
iii.	Helen Martha 'Mattie' Whitney, b. 6 Sep 1897, d. 1972
iv.	Eugene Ralph Whitney, b. 9 Oct 1899; d. 1975
v.	Grace Emily Whitney, b. 9 Feb 1902.
vi.	Walter Emerson Whitney, b. 3 Apr 1904.
vii.	Eva Blanche Whitney, b. 18 Jun 1912; d. 14 Dec 1980 in - Clifton Springs, Ontario, NY.
