Family:Whitney, Jacob (1787-1823)

Jacob⁷ Whitney (Jacob⁶, Abraham⁵, Abraham⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Jacob⁶ and Esther (Walcott) Whitney, was born 8 Oct 1787,^[1] and died 10 Aug 1823, Madison, IN.

He married, 12 May 1811, Stow, MA, Maria Goldsmith.^[2] She was born 15 May 1792, and died 1 Feb 1885, in Louisville, KY.

Jacob Whitney was a native of Stow, MA. Shortly after marriage he left Massachusetts for western Pennsylvania, remaining only a short time, before descending the Ohio River. Was one of the original settlers in Jefferson County, Indiana, and died young, leaving a large family. His wife was a remarkable woman, and trained her children so that every one was strong and useful in their lives, the older boys becoming quite wealthy. He resided Madison, IN.
