Jeremiah E.6 Whitney (Abijah5, Daniel4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Abijah5 and Elizabeth (Ellsworth) Whitney, was born 20 Jan 1782, Warwick, NY, and died Nov 1840, Rochester, NY. He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, NY.[1]

He married firstly, say 1810, Rachel King. She apparently died before 1830.

He married secondly, before 1840, ----- -----. She was born about 1800-1810, and died after 1840.

Phoenix says the following:

Jeremiah Whitney, b. in Warwick, N. Y., 18 March 1782; a weaver; married Rachel King; and lived in Rochester, N. Y. They were buried, it is thought, in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Children of Jeremiah E.6 and Rachel (King) Whitney, reconstructed from 1830 census record:

i. William E.7 Whitney, b. 2 Jan 1812, Penfield, NY; m. Mary Scott.
ii. (daughter) Whitney, b. 1810-1815.
iii. (son) Whitney, b. 1820-1825.
iv. (daughter) Whitney, b. 1820-1825.

Notes

There are several unidentified and unconnected Whitney individuals buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, NY. Some of them are probably part of this family, but no proof has been found.

  • 1840, Irondequoit, Monroe Co., NY: Jeremiah E. Whitney, 1 male 50-59, 2 males 0-4, 1 female 50-59, 1 female 30-39, and 1 female 0-4; 1 engaged in agriculture.
  • 1850: not found.
