John W. Whitney ([poss.] Simon M., [poss.] Lovet T.), possibly son of Simon M. and Patsey (Arndell) Whitney, was born about 1833, Butler Co., KY, and died before 1870, probably Harrison Co., MO.

He married, 20 Sep 1853, Harrison Co., MO, Lucinda Burns, daughter of James and Polly (Percefield) Burns. She was born about 1835, Jackson Co., OH, and died after 1870. She married secondly, about 1870, Thomas Smith.

Children of John W. and Lucinda (Burns) Whitney:

i. Caroline J. Whitney, b. 1856, MO.
ii. John William Whitney, b. 11 Sep 1858, MO, d. 25 Mar 1900, Corning, Nemaha Co., KS.
iii. Nora Whitney, b. 1861, MO.

Notes

There is some confusion between him and John Whitney (c1833-1861), q.v. They may have been first cousins.
