Nelson Bigelow⁸ Whitney (Ward⁷, Abel⁶, Timothy⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Ward⁷ and Katherine (Cook) Whitney, was born about 17 Feb 1840, Ludlow, VT, and died 25 Jul 1905, Ludlow, VT, aged 65 years 5 months 8 days, of heart failure.^[1]

He "of Guilford" married, 3 Jul 1866, Guilford, VT, Jane A. Franklin,^[2] daughter of Jedediah H. and Sarah Prouty (Bartlett) Franklin. She was born 27 Jul 1846, Guilford, VT, and died 27 Oct 1933, Guilford, VT, aged 87 years 3 months 0 days, of organic disease of heart.^[3] She married secondly, 28 Nov 1907, Guilford, VT, George Wiltshire.^[4]
