William Arthur7 Whitney (Chauncey Harris6, Benjamin5, John4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Chauncey Harris6 and Caroline Matilda (Craig) Whitney, was born 4 May 1828, Mexico, NY, and died 21 Oct 1912. He was buried in Penland Cemetery, Lexington, OR.[1]

He married, 10 Jan 1848, Ellisburgh, NY, Abigail Arabel Fuller, daughter of Malachi and Mary (Fox) Fuller. She was born 10 Feb 1829, Ira, VT, and died after 1910.

Phoenix says the following:

". . . a carpenter and joiner . . . . They settled near Belleville, in Ellisburgh; and removed in March 1864, to Newport, N.Y., where they were living in 1874. He enlisted at Watertown, N.Y., in 1864, in the 10th Reg., N.Y. S. Cavalry; and was discharged soon after the capture of Richmond, Va., having been ten months in service."

i. Alice Whitney, b. 24 Jun 1850; d. 30 Jan 1859, Newport, NY, where she was buried.
ii. Charles Whitney, b. 20 Oct 1852; d. aft. 1880; m. Emma Putman.
iii. William Malachi Whitney, b. 12 Nov 1854; m. Lizzie E. Starr.
