William Hope8 Whitney (Thomas Mott7, Samuel6, Samuel5, Abraham4, Joseph3, John2, Henry1), son of Thomas Mott7 and Mary Buchanan (King) Whitney, was born 23 Jun 1848, North East Harbor, NS, and died 22 Aug 1896, North East Harbour, NS.

He married firstly, 19 Mar 1874, North East Harbor, NS, Elizabeth Harding Doane, daughter of William Myrick and Mahala (Doane) Doane. She was born in 1846, Barrington, NS, and died 11 Nov 1876, North East Harbor, NS.

He married secondly, 1 Dec 1877, Port Saxon, NS, Charlotte M. H. Perry, daughter of Allen Fraser and Mary Ann (Perry) Perry. She was born 23 May 1855, Roseway or Selburne, NS. She married seccondly, 9 Sep 1903, Gloucester, MA, Isaac Hinkley, son of Samuel and Annie (Quinn) Hinkley, born about 1847, Cape Breton Island, Canada.[1]

He resided North East Harbor, NS, with his father, in 1873.
