Nathan⁶ Whitney (Nathan⁵, Thomas⁴, Eleazar³, Thomas², John¹), son of Nathan⁵ and Abigail (Marstass) Whitney, was born circa 1756, probably Brookfield, MA, and died 1 Nov 1846, Seneca County, OH. He was buried in Underhill Cemetery, Seneca Co., OH.^[1]

He married Eunice [?Wakefield?]. She was born 27 Feb 1765, VT, and 27 Jul 1846, Seneca Co., OH, aged 81 years 5 months. She is buried in Underhill Cemetery, Seneca Co., OH.^[2]

He served in the Revolutionary War as follows:

Whitney, Nathan, Brookfield. Private, Capt. John Woolcott's co. of rangers, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775, from Brookfield and Spencer; service, 12 days.

Whitney, Nathan, Brookfield. Private, Capt. Joel Green's co., Col. Ebenezer Learned's regt.; muster roll dated Aug. 1, 1775; enlisted May 3, 1775; service, 3 mos. 6 days; also, company return [probably Oct., 1775]; also, order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money dated Roxbury Camp, Dec. 13, 1775.

Whitney, Nathan, Brookfield. Private, Capt. John Cowls's co., Col. Benjamin Ruggles Woodbridge's regt.; company return [probably Oct., 1775]; also, order for money in lieu of bounty coat dated Cambridge and endorsed ôDec 23th 1775.ö

Whitney, Nathan. Private, Capt. Daniel Gilbert's co., Col. Job Cushing's regt.; service from July 30, 1777, to Sept. 2, 1777, 1 mo. 4 days, at Bennington and Half Moon; company marched from Brookfield.

Whitney, Nathan. Private, Capt. Asa Danforth's co. of volunteers, Col. Convers's regt.; service, 22 days; company marched from Brookfield Sept. 23, 1777, to join army under Gen. Gates at the Northward.^[3]

He applied for a pension for Revolutionary War service:

"WHITNEY, Nathan, Cont & MA Lines, S11741, he appl 5 Oct 1832 in Seneca Co OH aged 76 a res of Thompson OH, sol lived at Brookfield in Worcester Co MA when he enl"^[4]

Eunice is called Eunice Wakefield in one tree at a public member tree at Ancestry.com. No confirmation of this has been found. No birth record for an unaccounted-for Eunice Wakefield in 1763 through 1767 has been found.

• 1800, Hartford, Windsor Co., VT: Nathan Whitney, 1 male over 45, 1 female over 45, and 1 female 10-15. Presumably this was him, but it could be his father.
• 1810: not found.
• 1820, Lyme, Huron Co., OH: Nathan Whitney, 1 male over 45 and 1 female over 45; 1 engaged in agriculture, and 1 foreigner not naturalized.
• 1830: They may be the male and female 70-79 in the family of their son William.
• 1840: They may be the male and female 80-89 in the family of their son William.
