Family:Whitney, Amos (1784-a1830)

Amos⁷ Whitney (Hezekiah⁶, Elias⁵, Lemuel⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Hezekiah⁶ and Sarah (Piper) Whitney, was born Stow, MA, and was baptized 1 Aug 1784, Stow, MA.^[1]

Marriage intentions were published 11 Dec 1813, Stow, MA, for him and Patty Wilder "of Sterling".^[2] She was born 21 Jun 1784, and died 5 Oct 1837.

He was a farmer; resided Stow, Massachusetts.

i.	Joseph W.8 Whitney, b. 25 Feb 1814; d. 16 Jul 1891, Waltham, MA, aged 77, of hemoplegia due to a cerebral hemorrhage, janitor; s. p.; m. 4 Oct 1840, Newburyport, MA, Mary Browne Gerrish.[3] Of Weston in 1850, Waltham in 1860.
ii.	Luceba C. Whitney, b. 6 Sep 1816; d. 30 Nov 1865; m. 24 Jul 1849, Stow, MA, Silas Newton.[4] He was a blacksmith and d. 19 Feb 1856. Ch.: Joseph Newton, Marlborough, MA; John Newton, b. 1 Sep 1856; m. Albert Taylor, 22 Mar 1877; resided Hudson, MA.
iii.	James W. Whitney, b. 13 Mar 1818; m. Sultina V. Bartlett.
iv.	Jonathan W. Whitney, b. 22 Nov 1821; m. 21 Sep 1845, Hubbardston, MA, Rebecca Gay,[5] b. 19 May 1819; d. 28 Nov 1893, s. p. He is a painter; resided Lincoln Square, Worcester, MA.
v.	Mary E. Whitney, b. 16 Jan 1825; m. 5 Mar 1846, Northborough, MA, Clark R. Watson.[6]
vi.	Martha M. Whitney, b. 16 May 1823; m. 20 Sep 1844, William A. Shumway, 63 Orange St., Worcester. He was b. 9 Sep 1813; d. 9 Sep 1867; was a teamster from Boston to Worcester before railroads; also a farmer. Ch.: Persis E., b. 20 Jan 1846; m. 5 June 1867; d. 6 Nov 1874; m. Randolph Walker; Augustus L., b. 8 Feb 1848; d. 15 Sep 1866; James L., b. 14 Nov 1850; d. 5 Jan 1874; Joseph H., b. 7 Mar 1856; m. 3 Jul 1883; m. 29 Mar 1890; Frank A., b. 8 Feb 1858; m. 19 Jul 1885; Mattie M., b. 9 Jan 1860; m. 18 Sep 1882, James H.
