Ephraim A.8 Whitney (Silas7, Silas6, Daniel5, Richard4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Silas7 and Abigail M. (Shedd) Whitney, was born ca. 31 Jul 1817, Boston, MA, and died 20 Aug 1899, Stoughton, MA, aged 82 years 21 days, of cytitis [sic: probably cystitis].[1]

He married firstly, Boston, MA, Johanna A. Hook, daughter of Gilman and Clarina (-----) Hook. She was born ca. Oct 1824, Boston, MA, and died 28 Aug 1864, Milton, MA, aged 39 years 10 months, of phthisis.[2]

He married secondly, 28 Apr 1865, Providence, RI, Martha A. Hunt, daughter of Ira and Joanna G. (Smith) Hunt.[3] She was born Jan 1844, Boston, MA, and died 3 Jan 1923, Holbrook, MA, aged 83 years 7 months 25 days, of bronchial pneumonia.[4] She was buried in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, MA.

He resided Boston and Stoughton, MA.

iv. Ophelia V. Whitney, b. 5 Sep 1849, Roxbury, MA;[8] d. 10 Apr 1907, Chelsea, MA, aged 58 years 7 months 25 days, of syphilis;[9] m. 23 Nov 1875, Danvers, MA, William I. Hatch, b. ca. 1854, South Reading, MA, son of E. L. and Roxana (Hunt) Hatch; resided Lyndon, MA.[10]
