Thomas Mott⁷ Whitney (Samuel⁶, Samuel⁵, Abraham⁴, Joseph³, John², Henry¹), son of Samuel⁶ and Margaret (Swain) Whitney, was born 8 Nov 1805, North East Harbor, NS, and died 7 Mar 1889, Shelburne, NS.

He married, 29 Dec 1829, North East Harbor, NS, Mary Buchanan King, daughter of Isaac and Martha (Perry) King. She was born 7 Oct 1808, North East Harbor, NS, and died 1 Nov 1872, North East Harbor, NS.

Phoenix says the following:

"... a fisherman and farmer .... They settled at North East Harbor, ... where he was still living, in Feb. 1874."

iii.	Eleazer Smith Whitney, b. 30 Mar 1835, North East Harbor, NS; m. Elizabeth Ann Hagar.
iv.	Naomi Greenwood Whitney, b. 8 May 1837, Cape Negro Island, North East Harbor, NS; m. 13 Feb 1859, Swan's Island, ME, Michael Stinson, son of Benjamin and Sarah (Smith) Stinson, b. 31 Oct 1833, Swan's Island, ME; a mariner. They settled at Swan's Island, and were living there in 1873.
v.	Mary Ellen Whitney, b. 1 Dec 1840, North East Harbor, NS; d. 18 Oct 1863, Round Bay, NS, and was buried in North East Harbor Cemetery; m. 3 Nov 1862, Shelburne, NS, Amos Hagar, son of William and Joanna (Cox) Hagar, b. 24 Apr 1842, Round Bay, NS; mariner. They settled at Round Bay, where he was living in 1874.
vi.	Margaret Ann Whitney, b. 4 Jun 1845, North East Harbor, NS; m. 6 May 1867, Lunenburg Town, NS, Leander William Young, son of Edward and Caroline (Eisenhaur) Young, b. 1845, Lunenburg Town; mariner. They settled in Lunenburg, and were living there in 1874.
vii.	William Hope Whitney, b. 23 Jun 1848, North East Harbor, NS; m.(1) Elizabeth Doane; m.(2) Charlotte Perry.
